ABSOLUT XOCHIMILCO is a ©2000 ad showing a colorful flat-bottomed boat (trajinera) decorated with a large overhead Absolut-shaped display, made of different colored flowers. The trajinera is on the famous chinampas, or floating gardens, of Lake Xochimilco, a popular tourist attraction 14 miles southwest of Mexico City. The word "xochimilco" is translated as "where the flowers grow". Below the ad's logo, along with the typical information, is printed: Imported by Seagram Do Brasil. The ad is part of the Absolut Latin America campaign. (Rumor has it that the next Latin American ad may be named for a city in extreme southeastern Mexico: Absolut Chetumal.) |
