ABSOLUT AWOL is a European ad that looks very much like ABSOLUT HOUDINI: we see the traditional white spotlight shining on a black background and a shiny black table, but the Absolut Vodka bottle is gone and only a ring of moisture has been left behind on the table. AWOL is a slang term for a soldier who has left a military base without getting permission, or Absent WithOut Leave.
Below the logo is written: LOST: ONE BOTTLE OF PURE PERFECTION. IF FOUND, PLEASE PACK IN ICE AND SEND HOME.
TBWA and the traditional European ad info is printed up the left margin. The 1995 copyright date may refer to the publication date for Absolut Houdini, or perhaps Absolut AWOL was previously distributed. If you know, please let me know. The ad can be found on the inside front cover of the 7/99 issue of the British magazine, The Face. |
